Biography – Kevin F. Dale

Kevin Dale

Kevin Dale

I have practiced law on Nantucket since 1981. After graduating from Suffolk University Law School in 1980, I entered the Trial Attorney Honor’s Program at the United States Department of Justice in Washington and worked in the Commercial litigation Branch of the Civil Division. I represented the Government before various Federal District Courts around the country and the United States Court of Claims in Washington, D.C. I prosecuted cases under the Federal False Claims Act and defended various branches of the Armed Services in Merit Protection Board Appeals.

In 1981, my wife and I moved from Virginia to Nantucket and I joined my current partner, Edward Foley Vaughan, to practice law. In 1984 we formed the Vaughan and Dale partnership at our present address on Whaler’s Lane. Real estate law is the emphasis of my practice, although I also do civil litigation and some criminal defense work. From 1982 to 1983, I served as Chairman of the Nantucket Board of Zoning Appeals and developed an interest in land use regulation. I regularly represent clients before various Nantucket Municipal Boards and Commissions, including the Zoning Board, Planning Board, Conservation Commission and Nantucket Historic District Commission. I am a Massachusetts Land Court Title Examiner and served as President of the Nantucket Bar Association from 1994 to 1998. I am also a member of the Massachusetts Bar Association and Massachusetts Conveyancer’s Association.

I have served as a Trustee of the Nantucket Cottage Hospital, the Nantucket Boys and Girls Club, Nantucket Student Lacrosse, Inc., and Nantucket Ice, a non-profit community skating rink on Nantucket. I am an avid golfer and fisherman.
